Well I tried 😂 Darling oldest daughter has worked seven days straight so I thought I would do something nice and bring her breakfast in bed, however I have a new oven with fancy pants settings, sooo this was the result just 8 minutes later....burnt tops and soggy bottoms!

Great start to the week, but what can you do but try again, so I will be off the the shops to get some more for tomorrow.

So trivial benefits, what's it all about? It's a tax efficient way for you to reward your employees, boost moral and hopefully productivity in your business. Basically you can give each employee a gift with the value of up to £50, which reduces your tax bill and they do not have to pay tax or national insurance on it. There are some limits, such as it cannot be cash or a voucher that can be exchanged for cash. There's more.... Directors can do this too, up to 6 times a year,(maximum value £300). There is other criteria so you should have a quick chat with a professional, but Directors, why not treat yourself and your employees. There are many small businesses now that offer gift vouchers and we all love to support each other, so whether it is a gift to help pay for groceries or a pamper at your local salon, there are lots of ways to use this benefit.

We all love a thank you don't we?

This week started with two messages thanking me for helping sort out HMRC situations for clients. I was just doing my job, and obviously I get paid for that, but it is nice to get some appreciative feedback 🤗

It got me thinking...there are so many people I appreciate in business and it is easy to forget to say so.

I really appreciate those I network with at T2B early on a Tuesday morning, they make this early morning meeting enjoyable, and help promote me in the local area.

Thank you also to the lovely people at ONLE Networking. The education slots on these meetings have been so valuable to me over the past few months, helping me feel I am not alone and that difficult days are just part of business life ONLE Networking

I also have some wonderful clients, friends and family who have been a great support, helping to spread the word about my services.

Even though I work by myself my business would be nothing without all of these people, so its a big

Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend! 😃

Started the week with a bang revising partial exemption for VAT. It's amazing how many rules there are if you make any exempt VAT supplies, but keeping up to date helps keep my client's business' stay on the right side of HMRC, which, lets face it, is where we all want to be.

If you are VAT registered and make any exempt supplies it is very important for everyone involved to have some understanding of the rules, as it starts with where items are coded on your accounting system.

Is it beneficial for tax to have a limited company?

A few years ago the answer was simple....yes.

However with rises in corporation tax rates for companies with profits of £50K and national insurance soon to drop the answer is not so simple. If you are thinking of setting up a limited company just for a tax advantage I would recommend talking to a professional first.

There can still be some reductions in tax, for example, if you plan to leave money in the company to withdraw in the future. Your accountant should be able to give you a projection of the tax due in different scenarios so you can make an informed choice, and don't forget running a company can cost more in administration and accountancy fees.

There however other reasons you may want to go limited, especially if you operate in a high risk industry.

Visited the beautiful city of Bath yesterday. I love exploring the old buildings and alleyways. Thought these steps were a good idea, but they were much harder on the leg muscles than I thought 😂

It got me thinking about my business and what things I had found harder than expected, most people will know I found networking very difficult at fits, but now I love it and have seen the benefits to my business, both in gaining new contacts but also as an amazing support network.
