For the first time since September 2009 our household doesn't have anybody back for their first day of term!

Instead I'll have to settle for my first mortgage offer of the month, for an application submitted yesterday for a couple buying a second / holiday home in another part of the country. A great start to the month.

Apparently today is International Dog Day, so a good time to pay tribute to my office companion Woody, who's special skill appears to be being able to sleep through anything!

Back at work following a week off which included a trip to The Stone Roses Bar York as part of my daughter's 18th birthday celebrations. They really couldn't have been more hospitable.

I'm currently working my way through my emails received last week but it's looking like this week will see three applications submitted, one of a buyer purchasing a second home, one for a client looking to remortgage a rental property and the final one for a Limited Company Buy to Let who's current rate is due to come to an end. It should be a strong end to the month!

Confirmation of another mortgage offer received today, making that the second of the week.

The first was a remortgage for an existing client who's current deal expires in a little under 6 months, they wanted to secure a rate early. The second was a remortgage on an inherited property to cover the costs of refurbishment and extension work to modernise that property.

The Bank of England has voted to leave Base Rate unchanged at 3.75%. The rate has remained at this level since December 2025.

The vote this month was split 7:2 with seven members voting to hold rates and two voting for an increase.

A cracking start to this Wednesday morning with confirmation of two mortgage offers received before 10am.

These were both for home movers, one on an application submitted last week and the valuation was carried out yesterday and the second was for an application submitted this Monday.
