1) DESIGN WITHOUT A STRATEGY
The reason a good brand designer is more expensive than a basic one is because they want to create strategy before they begin the design work. This is a fundamental part of the design process which should not be skipped and will be a valuable piece of work for you and your brand.
2) DESIGN YOU JUST A LOGO ⚠️
After 19 years in a creative role and 6 of those freelance, I avoid anyone that wants ‘just a logo’ like the plague. We are not compatible.
3) CHOOSE YOU A TRENDING COLOUR PALETTE
You’ve seen attending colour, we can’t build your whole brand around it. High chances are it’ll be out of fashion in the next four years we are building to last or at least make it out the other side of a general election.
4) GIVE YOU 24 HOURS TO REVIEW
This might be your first time going through this creative process and whilst stages do you have a timeframe, they shouldn’t be rushed. I like to give you the time to process and feedback with clarity, not panic.
What don’t you do in your job? 🫶

On July 25th, I was nominated for a West Country Women Awards for ‘The Start-up Business of the Year Award’. This came in just after The Good Space turned one, what a gorgeous testament to the space and what my business partner Amy and I have created.
On July 30th, it was my 40th Birthday. I went away for the weekend and my feet have only just touched the ground after a magical weekend and multiple surprises from my partner Pete and my dearest friends, who surprised me at Carbis Bay Estate on Sunday morning.
Now 6th August, I have just sat down to complete my application and the applications closed on.... 30th July - GAH! It appears I was just having too much fun at the spa and the deadline passed me by.
Maybe this year it wasn’t meant to be, but the nomination still exists and I will hold onto that for the next year until I can try again.
And a huge thank you to ᴀɴɢᴇʟᴀ ʀɪᴍᴍᴇʀ ᴀʀᴛɪꜱᴛ for the nomination, you’re so thoughtful and I’m so glad we have met through The Good Space this last year ✨ This really made my month and what a start to 40!
Here is a whole series of pictures to explain why I missed the deadline 😅

Starting my 40s today - 7am, beach to ourselves, just my mate Amy and I.
Yesterday I turned 40 but instead of celebrating, I spent the morning at a funeral of an old colleague and friend, Joe. He was 45. It was surreal and devastatingly sad. I climbed into bed at 7pm and wanted to day to be over.
At 8pm Amy text me and asked if I fancied a swim first thing - to start my 40s.
The best start to the day ever - simplicity, friendship and a calm sea 🌊 I’m so looking forward to what everyone keeps telling me is ‘the best decade ever’.
Lets see whats instore ✨

Motherhood and my career the second time round.
Becoming a mother at 26 and again at 36 was vastly different. The first time round I entered motherhood with no support system, pretty confused, and went back to work full time 6 months later in a job that had no flex, no support and no options.
Today is my youngest son’s last day at nursery and over the last 5 years I’ve managed to navigate motherhood my way.
I’ve been self employed the whole time, grown my business, started a new one, supported my partner through a career transition and taken the kids to much of Europe, NYC and a month in Thailand. I’ve not worked to survive like the first time; I’ve worked to live. After all, memories aren’t just for kids: they’re for us too.
And I’m not bragging - this is simply to say there is a possibility to do things differently second time round, or first time if you’ve got it figured out.
And it goes without saying, a big thanks to Pete for rolling his eyes and then saying yes to the adventures and raising the kids alongside me the right way.
One day they’ll appreciate us 😅
