“The Friday 5PM Broker Emergency: Why Listening Is Your Superpower”
It’s Friday. 4:58 PM. Just as I’m mentally shifting into weekend mode and eyeing that last biscuit in the tin, my phone rings. We all know what that means: emergency case o’clock.
The voice on the other end is panicked. A client has been through 5 or 6 brokers, over 10 lenders, and still no luck securing a second charge loan. Rejections everywhere. Apparently, this case has made the rounds more than a tray of biscuits at a networking event.
Now, here’s where it gets interesting:
I listened.
Really listened.
I asked the right questions.
I didn’t jump to pitch.
I didn’t assume.
I just wanted to understand what the actual issue was—why everyone else had walked away from it like it was radioactive.
And guess what? Within a short time, I had terms from a lender I know well. It wasn’t rocket science. It wasn’t magic. It was just… doing the job properly.
