A budgeting tip for you today: Budget to Zero.

That means planning and giving a name to every pound that you spend.

It doesn't mean that you're left with nothing in your bank account, it just means that your income minus your expenses equal zero.

Sharing a typical client scenario.

Mr and Mrs B came in for a review of their existing arrangements and also wished to discuss raising finance for their business. they currently run an Online trading business together.

Mr B and Mrs B have been trading for a little under one however, business is going well and has been generating good revenues. The expected trend is that revenues are expected to increase further.

They were now looking to expand the business and needed to borrow however, due to a lack of trading history and with no accounts to provide at this stage, finding a lender was proving difficult or at least one willing to do so at competitive rates.

Upon review of their existing provisions, It was identified that between them, they had a reasonably sized pension pot accumulated and a possible solution presented to them was to transfer the pension into an SSAS. This was they still retained control of their monies but in addition to this, the SSAS was then able to lend the business money at competitive rates.

This was also a suitable solution they were not looking to maximise borrowing from the SSAS, therefore, mitigating the risk to their pension savings further.
