Because there are a few newbies, we thought we’d take the chance to (re)introduce ourselves.

We’re Numbers Nerds - a professional bookkeeping and financial support service for start-ups and small businesses. Led by Adam Watson—an experienced accountant and former banker—we bring expert-level financial oversight to companies that need reliable, flexible, and cost-effective support without the full-time price tag.

We’ve been delivering financial support for over 12 years now to businesses nationwide but our experience in the world of finance extends far further back. There’s very little we haven’t heard, seen and supported businesses through over the years.

In short, we love finance. We are unashamedly nerdy with numbers (clue is in the name) - every one of us. Our passion is helping businesses and business leaders thrive by providing outsourced financial support. We might technically be external but we operate as though we were part of your team - same goals, same page.

Let us tell you a little about Jason.

Jason runs a skincare clinic that’s doing fairly well. It turns over around £2 million annually. The business was growing and expanding. He was about to open a new clinic and had taken out a development loan to support and promote the growth. But his accountants were again reluctant to take on the bookkeeping. They were actually the ones that introduced Jason to us.

How could we support Jason and the business through this phase of growth?

We gave him a dedicated support team. We worked closely with his in-house team to see how we could reduce their workload and that of the director. We also developed bespoke reports to keep the lender happy, including specific requests that the accountants were unable to deliver.

This meant a happier director, a happier workforce and equated to a monthly saving for Jason of £300 a month.

Meet Mubashir, an ACCA Finalist with over 8 years’ accounting experience, and 4 years working with not just UK but also US businesses.

When Mubashir isn’t cracking away at the numbers and generating hugely useful financial reports, you’ll often find him travelling. He loves exploring mountains. His claim to fame is playing international cricket for the Saudi national team. We won’t tell him that our marketing support played at Lord’s - shhhh!

What were you doing the last school holidays? Panicking about how to have a family holiday and still get the work done?

Not to boast or make you feel jealous (well maybe a little) here’s where I was! In Kos enjoying some much needed time out with the wife and 2 of our boys. Great long windy roads, wind in the hair… it was good fun.

How could I sign out mentally for the week? It’s because we have a fantastic team to pick up the reins and need very little of my time to be able to keep delivering a fantastic bookkeeping and business support service to our clients. What are we doing this school holidays? Same thing. Jet-setting again with the family.
