This week at DSI London, we remember our founders, Geoffrey Hearn and Peggy Spencer, who both left us in May ten years ago.
Without Geoffrey and Peggy, DSI London simply would not exist. We are proud to have our roots in the Peggy Spencer and Geoffrey Hearn Dancing School—beginnings we must never forget, and a legacy within the Ballroom world that we remain deeply committed to honouring and carrying forward. Dance is, and always will be, ingrained in our DNA.
Geoffrey’s passion, dedication and unwavering commitment to the Ballroom world continue to inspire us today. His groundbreaking Technique of Advanced Ballroom and Latin American Figures remains essential reading for generations of dancers, and his influence on our industry is immeasurable.
Peggy’s contribution to Ballroom dancing and dance education was equally extraordinary, and her impact continues to be felt throughout the dance world and within everything we do at DSI London.
Ten years on, we remember them both with gratitude, pride, and great affection. Their legacy lives on—in our company, in our values, and in the Ballroom world they helped shape.
As the Ballroom world gathers this week to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Blackpool Dance Festival, we know Geoffrey and Peggy would have been proud to see the legacy of Ballroom continue to thrive—and would no doubt have loved to be there.
Always remembered. Never forgotten 🤍
