With 2024 coming to a close, we take a moment to reflect on a highlight for the Powerlist Magazine - our Celebration of Black Excellence Awards in partnership with J.P. Morgan.

This unforgettable evening brought together some of Britain's most influential men and women of African, African Caribbean and African American heritage, and we're proud to share some of the highlights with you in the video below. From celebrating the achievements of our honourees - including Powerlist Number 1 Dean Forbes - to connecting with our amazing community, it was truly a night to remember.

As we look ahead, 2025 marks an exciting milestone: the 20th anniversary of the Powerlist Magazine. We look forward to unveiling what's to come as we celebrate two decades of showcasing Black excellence in Britain across multiple sectors.

🏆 MEET THE WINNERS!! Our 2024 Powerlist Celebration of Black Excellence Awards was held at JW Marriott Grosvenor House London on Friday!

1. The Powerlist J.P.Morgan Number 1 Award goes to Dean Forbes. From homeless teenager to CEO of a €2billion tech company, Dean's journey is classic rags-to-riches. He is CEO of Forterro and a partner at Corten Capital Private Equity Group.

2. Our HSBC Outstanding Achievement Award goes to Dame Denise Lewis DBE. Dame Denise, a former Team GB athlete, is recognised for her Olympic heptathlon success, her sports broadcasting career, and her role as President of UK Athletics.

3. The Paramount Entertainer of the Year Award goes to actor Stephen Toussaint, recognised for his impactful roles in film, television, and theatre, including his recent performance in the hit HBO fantasy series House of the Dragon.

4. The The Executive Leadership Council Executive Leadership Council Executive of the Year Award goes to Afua Kyei. As CFO and Executive Director, Afua has expertly managed the Bank of England's £1 trillion balance sheet during critical moments like EU withdrawal and the Covid-19 pandemic.

5. Our Salesforce Woman of the Year Award goes to Prof. Patricia Kingori. Patricia is a renowned sociologist and professor at the University of Oxford, specialising in global health ethics. Her research has influenced global health policy and practices.

6. The LSEG - London Stock Exchange Group Global Executive Leader Award goes to Racquel Oden. Racquel is the US Head of Wealth and Personal Banking for HSBC. She joined HSBC from J.P. Morgan Chase and held previous leadership roles at Merrill Lynch and UBS.

7. Our bp Business of the Year Award goes to Wall of Entertainment, a leading content production company with 12 billion views across 100 shows for Gen Z. Their multi-platform work is known for its innovation and cultural relevance.

8. The Mastercard Excellence in Business Globally Award goes to Dr Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank. An economist by training, he previously served as Nigeria's Minister of Agriculture.

9. The Meta Tech, AI, and Innovation Award goes to Suki Fuller, a globally recognised intelligence advisor and keynote speaker, specialising in national security, tech trends, and the ethical implications of surveillance technologies.

10. Our PwC Purpose Award goes to Anne Welsh, a sickle cell carrier and former Chair of the Sickle Cell Society UK. She is the Founder of Painless Universal - an international platform for expert-led debate between global leaders, investors and innovators with the power to shape the future of global health.
