📅 Monday 7th April 2025 – Start of the New Tax Year 2025/26 📅

💡Attention self-employed individuals, sole traders, and landlords: Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is on its way!💡

In the coming weeks, HMRC will write to you to provide important updates on changes to how you file your tax returns.

Here’s what you need to know:

Key Changes:
🟢 Digital record-keeping will become mandatory.
🟢 Quarterly updates of income and expenses must be submitted to HMRC.
🟢 A Final Declaration will replace the traditional Self-Assessment return as the year-end submission.

Implementation Timeline:
🟢 From April 2026: Individuals with gross income over £50,000 will be affected.
🟢 From April 2027: Those earning between £30,000 and £50,000 will need to comply.

Qualifying Income Includes:
🟢 Income from self-employment.
🟢 Rental income.

This marks a significant shift from the current annual filing system to five submissions per year. Be prepared for this major change!

Speak with your accountant or get in touch to get on top of the new changes to begin planning. 📧 [email protected] 📧

☘️ Happy St. Patrick's Day to all! ☘️

Have a great day wherever in the world you're celebrating. Unfortunately there's no bank holiday in London today, though, a good day out at yesterday's parade and Irish Festival 🇮🇪

💭 As the 2024/25 tax year end approaches on 5th April 2025 📅, there’s still time to review your personal finances and ensure you're making the most of all available allowances to optimize your tax efficiency. 💭

Key planning points to consider for reducing your personal tax liability:

✅ISA Allowance: Up to £20,000 per individual.
✅Pension Contributions: £60,000 annual allowance - including any unused allowances from the previous 3 tax years.
✅Higher Rate & Additional Rate Taxpayers: Increase your 20% basic rate band and reduce your higher/additional taxable income through pension contributions or charitable donations.
✅EIS / SEIS / VCT Investments: Consider these investment options for potential tax relief.
✅Capital Gains Tax: £3,000 Capital Gains Exemption.

Certain reliefs and allowances won’t roll over - don’t leave any tax savings behind! ⏱️
