We’re excited to announce that we’re parntering with for the Readly Award, a celebration of well-loved and highly read journalism.
They’re sitting on (a lot) of data, so we picked their brains on their findings.
Did you know that in the UK in 2025, 23 million digital issues were read on the app? UK users spent an average of nine hours a month reading across 12 different titles, with the average session lasting 20 minutes. Long-form content on tablets, quick articles on mobile, 43% of article reading happens on phones, while tablets dominate full issue reading at 82%. Peak reading lands on a Wednesday at 6pm. People are genuinely hungry for good journalism, they just want it on their terms.

We’re incredibly excited to announce the Readly Awards at next week’s Talent Awards.
The Readly Award goes to the writer of the highest performing article on the platform, shortlisted from the top five most-read issues published on in 2025.

As platforms like The Modern House flood our Instagram feeds, the question of how to keep up with a fast-developing $400bn commercial content industry feels ever-important. Editors are no longer just arbiters of taste but savvy business minds.
Maria Pieri, Editorial Director of National Geographic Traveller, hosted a talk at The Peninsula hotel examining the shrinking line between brand and publisher, alongside Alex Herrmann, Andy Calton, and Rachael Ashley. The group homed in on cross-team creative partnerships and how to create branded content that increases audience engagement and editorial budgets whilst remaining authentic.
The rise of does not signal the end of a historically independent editorial judgement. Instead, this new era of paid entertainment affords writers and publishers greater opportunities for niche stories and far-flung adventures, though decisions will be interrogated. With “digital first” as the primary approach, bespoke, targeted and original campaigns are key to making content stand out.
