Fraud Awareness - Simple Steps to Protect Your Money!

Fraud now accounts for around 40% of crime in the UK, making it one of the most common threats facing individuals and businesses today. The challenge is that fraud doesn’t always look suspicious. In fact, it often appears as part of everyday business; an email from a supplier, a message about a payment, or a phone call from someone claiming to be your bank.

Because fraudsters rely on deception rather than force, awareness is one of the most powerful tools you have to protect yourself and your organisation. Knowing what to look out for and taking a few simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk.

With the new tax year fast approaching, many businesses are beginning to prepare for the changes introduced by Making Tax Digital (MTD).

From April, sole traders and landlords earning more than £50,000 will be required to submit quarterly updates to HMRC instead of relying solely on an annual tax return.

Reflecting on 2025...and looking ahead to 2026!

As we enter into a New Year, it’s a natural time to pause and think about how your business has performed over the past year.

For many, some things will have gone better than expected. Perhaps a new income stream grew quickly, or a customer relationship became more valuable than you imagined. At the same time, rising costs, recruitment challenges or changing customer needs may have made other areas more difficult.

Beyond the numbers, you may also be thinking about how well your business supported your wider ambitions. Did it grow in the way you hoped? Did it give you the freedom, stability or flexibility to take advantage of new opportunities? These questions often highlight where your business worked well for you and where it may have held you back.
