Personalised advice matters. AI tools and finfluencers don't know your full position, responsibilities, risk tolerance, tax situation or long-term aspirations. Acting on broad guidance without due care can leave people exposed to unsuitable decisions and unnecessary risk.

Women generally play a vital role in managing household finances, from budgeting and paying bills to keeping day-to-day spending on track. Financial Awareness Day on 14 August offers an opportunity to pause and reflect on your financial wellbeing.

Life moves quickly and it's easy to put financial planning on the back burner while focusing on work, family and everyday commitments. Yet even a simple review of your finances can make a real difference.

Consider whether your savings, investments and protection arrangements still align with your goals. Have your priorities changed over the past year? Are there any opportunities to improve your financial resilience or make better use of your money?

Living longer is good news. But it also changes what retirement could look like.

More people could spend 20, 30 or even 40 years in retirement. That’s a long time to fund without a salary coming in, and it’s something many people might underestimate.

Longer lives are worth celebrating, but they also make planning more important than ever. Relying on the State Pension alone may not support the lifestyle many people hope for later in life. The real risk is putting retirement into the ‘deal with it later’ box and assuming it will work itself out.

The reality is simple.
If retirement could last decades, financial planning needs to keep pace with longevity. Thinking ahead now could make a meaningful difference over the long term.
