What happens when there are conflicting interests in one household? ⚽😂
Tonight’s situation:
🏴 One of us believes it’s coming home
🇬🇭 The other is backing the Black Stars to pull off a miracle
But it’s not just football where this happens…
💰 One wants to save & invest for the future
✈️ The other wants to enjoy the money now
Sound familiar?
The reality is, when it comes to finances, it’s not about one person being “right” — it’s about getting on the same page and finding a balance that works for both of you.
Having open conversations (and sometimes a bit of external guidance) can help turn those differences into a clear, shared plan for the future.
Because whether it’s football or finances… you’re on the same team in the end 🙌

This week’s Bristol Junior Chamber event was a special one.
We had the privilege of welcoming Lord Marvin Rees of Easton OBE to speak to us in the Chambers at City Hall. Hearing his insights on politics, leadership, and what it’s actually like stepping into the House of Lords was genuinely fascinating.
It’s one thing seeing leadership from the outside… it’s another hearing firsthand the realities that come with it.
On a personal note, this one meant a little more.
About 6 years ago when I first joined the BJC, I remember having a slightly wild thought: “What if I was President one day… and who would I get to come and speak?”
The very first name that came to mind was Marvin.
So to now be in this position and have that come full circle - it’s a bit of a surreal moment.
A big thank you to Lord Rees for taking the time to come and share so openly - and for unknowingly helping tick off a thought that felt pretty far-fetched all those years ago.
If you have young professionals in your organisation now is the time to get them involved...the best is still to come.
