A 4-day learning journey to Tuscany brought together 20 Scottish Agritourism business owners and managers to study agritourism in Italy.

The group, pictured at Podere Il Casale - Pienza, home of Sandra and Ulissese Schmidig, who spoke at the Scottish Agritourism Conference in 2023, visited working farms and rural businesses.

Led by Sector Lead Caroline Millar, the visits explored farm-to-plate, farm tours, farm retail, storytelling, and profiling multi-generational family members as part of the agritourism offering. Caroline studied agritourism in Italy as part of her Nuffield Scholarship in 2012 and has taken groups of farmers to the region since.

If you’re interested in joining a Learning Journey closer to home, Scotland's Agritourism Monitor Farm Project is visiting Argyll from Tuesday 10th to Thursday 12th November. Visit their website to learn more and register.
