Last week Goldfarb and I started something I've been looking forward to — a candid conversation with a fellow wealth advisor about how we actually work.
Too often in our industry, we operate in silos. We research independently, manage client relationships our own way, and rarely get to peek behind the curtain at how our colleagues approach the same challenges. But some of my best learning moments come from hallway conversations at industry conferences, not the keynotes themselves.
That's what this podcast is about: breaking down those silos and sharing the different ways we process information, conduct research, host client events, communicate, and so much more. Because in a world with millions of podcasts and YouTube shows, there's always a new perspective or slightly different approach worth exploring.
Fair warning — we made mistakes during recording, needed a few retakes, and laughed at ourselves plenty of times. But that's real. That's authentic. That's how we actually work together.
I'm hoping this becomes a regular conversation across our branch, region, and team. Looking forward to hearing what resonates with you.
What's one thing you'd love to hear other advisors talk about? Drop it in the comments — we might feature it in an upcoming episode.

On Friday night, it was -36°C outside. Hard to imagine anywhere worse to be.
Yet 400 community leaders and business professionals braved the bitter cold to attend the Gold Hearts Gala at the Fairmont Château Laurier — a sold-out evening dedicated to ending youth homelessness in Ottawa by 2030.
The numbers that stuck with me:
While we returned to warm homes and soft beds, some young people weren't so lucky. The cold was unbearable — the kind that stings your face the moment you step outside. Yet what resonated most wasn't the temperature; it was learning that fewer than 300 youth are currently affected by homelessness in Ottawa.
This goal is achievable. This is solvable.
Together, we raised over $375,000 to support the Ottawa Community Foundation's Ending Youth Homelessness by 2030 Fund — working alongside organizations like United Way East Ontario, Alliance to End Homelessness, Youth Services Bureau, Operation Come Home, and YouTurn.
The research was eye-opening: nearly half of chronically homeless adults first experience homelessness in their youth. Early intervention isn't just compassionate — it's essential to breaking the cycle entirely.
I was surrounded by incredible community builders and fellow RBC colleagues who genuinely care about making a difference. That's what philanthropy should feel like — not obligation, but opportunity to be part of something meaningful.
If you weren't there, consider how you might get involved. The need is real. The solution is within reach.

A wave of longevity is sweeping across Africa, but the continent isn’t ready
In just 15 years, the number of people 60 and older has ballooned by an estimated 50% in sub-Saharan Africa, to about 67 million people. Longer lives should be a cause for celebration but some advocates are warning of a coming catastrophe. (AP video: David Goldman)
