Still working at 65? You don't have to turn on CPP and OAS right away.

Waiting means bigger payments later — CPP grows 0.7% and OAS grows 0.6% for every month you delay past 65. But if you start collecting while you're still earning a paycheque, both benefits get added to your taxable income, which can push you into a higher tax bracket — and OAS can even get clawed back once your income passes a certain level.

So before deciding to take CPP and OAS as soon as you turn 65, it's worth asking: how much of that extra income would actually go to tax? For some people still working full-time, the answer is "a lot" — and waiting a few more years might leave you further ahead.

Every situation is different, so there's no one-size-fits-all answer.

Ontario workers and employers should take note! 👇

Starting October 1, 2026, Ontario's general minimum wage will increase from $17.60 to $17.95 per hour, a $0.35 increase tied to the Ontario Consumer Price Index (CPI). This change is expected to benefit more than 700,000 workers across the province. 📈

💼 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒎𝒖𝒎 𝑾𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝑹𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔 𝑬𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑶𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒃𝒆𝒓 1, 2026
- 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗺 𝗪𝗮𝗴𝗲 💲 $17.95/hour (up from $17.60)
- 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗺 𝗪𝗮𝗴𝗲 🎓 $16.90/hour (up from $16.60) Applies to students under 18 working up to 28 hours per week during the school year or during school breaks.
- 𝗟𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 🍽️🍹 $17.95/hour Remains the same as the general minimum wage.
- 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 🏠💻 $19.70/hour (up from $19.35) Applies to employees performing paid work from their homes.

⚠️ 𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝑹𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑬𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒚𝒆𝒓𝒔
The minimum wage applies to most employees, including:
✔️ Full-time employees
✔️ Part-time employees
✔️ Casual employees
✔️ Commission-based employees
✔️ Salaried employees

Compliance is determined on a pay-period basis. If a pay period spans October 1, 2026, hours worked before that date continue to be paid at the previous wage rate.
