We are growing! SME joins forces with Cooperman Chapman, a well-established CPA firm in St. Catharines, expanding to the Niagara Region.

We are pleased to announce that, effective January 1, 2023, SME welcomes Cooperman Chapman as an affiliate member, onboarding their talented team and adding a second office in St. Catharines, Ontario.

Established in 1976, Cooperman Chapman has built a strong reputation over the years, servicing individuals and businesses in the areas of assurance, tax and advisory, including a spotlight on US taxation. With the alliance, the Firm will operate as Grover Cooperman Chapman and Vishal Grover will lead the operations as Managing Partner.

More than expanding our footprint, this union brings to our clients access to an even more diverse pool of knowledge and professional experience. Both firms have well-aligned culture and core values, which will greatly contribute with increasing our service offerings and create meaningful career opportunities for our people.

Meet Paul Grossi, Partner at SME.

Paul has always had a desire to be his own boss and was naturally cut out to be an entrepreneur.

In the early years of his professional accounting career, Paul worked in both public and private accounting. In 1980, he decided to start his own practice, focusing on small business owners who were looking for business advice, along with the traditional taxation and accounting practice services, to succeed in their businesses. Over the past 40 years, Paul has serviced and nurtured relationships with an impressive portfolio of clients, being the trusted advisor of multiple non-profit organizations as well as private family businesses and their subsequent generations.

Paul’s story with SME started in 2016, when his existing practice merged with the Firm. Since then, Paul has not only contributed to the professional development of many staff members, but also created unforgettable moments in the office, leading team building activities and planning engaging games.

Outside of the workplace, Paul is a sports fan. During the warmer months, you can find him on the golf course or catching a soccer, football or baseball game. In the winter, Paul follows his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. Paul is a family man, father of three and grandfather of two. He credits his success to his wife Catharine, who has been walking this journey alongside him for over 50 years.

Paul has served as President and Board Member of various charitable organizations. Prior to being an accountant, Paul had multiple different trade jobs, including being an assistant plumber, handyman, and working at a sod farm.

Over the last few years, the demand for more climate-friendly initiatives has gained space in government agendas all over the world. As we watch the devastating effects of global warming, it becomes evident the need for a transition to a green economy.
