As we get closer to the busiest part of tax time, more and more scams will surface trying to target you by impersonating the Canada Revenue Agency. The CRA will never contact you by text or email, and when they call they will provide you with an agent ID number which is a 4-6 digit number followed by a location abbreviation (ie: Atlantic Canada = ATL). If you are ever not sure about a possible contact from the CRA, disengage from that contact method and call 1-800-969-8281 to connect to a legitimate agent who can verify your account status. Be safe!
