🤷🏼♀️ Things I'm really bad at lately: posting content consistently, updating my website, or doing email marketing outside of client work...
🏆 Things I'm really good at lately: planning relaxing, cozy, low stress events that grow community and fill my cup!
✨ That said, join me for book club! This meeting's pick is "Untamed" by Glennon Doyle. ✨
When? Saturday, March 7th from 1-3:30PM
Where? (Plenty of parking & the coziest space ever - complete with fireplace!)
What? If you’re looking for meaningful dialogue, diverse viewpoints, and a sense of real community, this book club is for you. We're here for the plot, which means you *actually* need to read the book...please!

The countdown is on! You've got 36 days to get the book and read it! 💪

As a former events girlie (who is unapologetically Type A), planning anything “big” usually stresses me out more than it excites me. So, when I say this event has been a pleasure to plan, I really mean it.
I wanted to create something to look forward to in that long stretch of January. Something warm and grounding in the middle of winter. Something to look forward to without adding another thing to your plate.
So, if your January could use something gentle to look forward to, this is for you! 🧡
When? Saturday, Jan 17th from 5-7PM (Still plenty of time to get home after for 9:30 bedtime!)
What? A cozy mixer with lots of food lovingly made by Jaida (we don't cook), warm drinks, and plenty of gratitude
Where? Hearth (5720A 75 Street, Edmonton)
Why? Celebrate community, mingle with friends (old and new), unwind, relax, and take time to celebrate YOU with no pressure, no agenda, and the amazing support the Hearth community is famous for
What to bring? Non-perishable food items for the Food Bank (January is always a high-need month due to financial strain/low donation supply following the holidays). For every item you bring, you'll receive a raffle ticket to be entered into our BIG raffle prize! 🏆

I'll be honest, y'all, I'm tired. I'm burnt out. This year has been a LOT. I've dealt with debilitating pain that literally flattened me.
But it's also been transformative. Joyful. I've learned to trust my body and listen to what it has to say. I've grown stronger physically, but also mentally. I've met new people, tried new things, and went on adventures near and far.
For the new year, I am actively embracing slowness. Rest. Listening to my body. Hustling without the hustle culture and taking a break when I need it. Being more whimsical. Finding glimmers of joy. Finding myself outside of work. Leaning on my community.
I am grateful to every lesson that 2025 has offered, and ready to see what 2026 has in store. 🪩

"When women come together, something magical happens. It's science, the mystical kind, and it's an unstoppable force to be reckoned with." ~Donna Ashworth
Oh heyyyy...Yes, my social media has been quiet lately, but the behind-the-scenes over here at the ol’ allyway have been anything but!
I’ve been tucked away at Hearth, doing the kind of deep work that doesn’t fit neatly into a carousel post. Lots of learning, unlearnin, and letting the next version of me and my business take shape. Think: community, connecting, collaborating, and cheering on the amazing humans I've met over the past couple months.
Turns out, when you gather with welcoming, smart, funny, wildly creative women in one space, you leave with new ideas, new friends, and a new outlook (plus, a really cool new hat)! 🔥
And spoiler alert! I’m hosting my first event in January to celebrate this amazing community! Think “Christmas in January,” but less hustle/ bustle and more laidback sips, snacks, and sharing! Something we're all so good at. 🎉🤩"When women come together, something magical happens. It's science, the mystical kind, and it's an unstoppable force to be reckoned with." ~Donna Ashworth

I had many moments of reflection this summer. When I was laid off the first (and second time) a few years back, I spent the summers frantically searching for work, anxious about the future, and stuck in panic mode. This summer, I've felt a lot of gratitude for where I'm at and where I've been. This quote just seemed to perfectly summarize the journey to get here.

It's hard to admit you f*ed up. Add on perfectionist tendencies and oof, you're in for a rude awakening. It's taken me YEARS, but I'm finally learning that it's okay to make mistakes. It's okay to admit you're wrong. It's okay to not have it all figured out. It's everyone's first time doing "life."

Fun fact: I was born in Winnipeg and went back to visit family every summer. So when I heard Romy was visiting, I had to share some of my fav spots. This post is a lil love letter to the power of word-of-mouth marketing (because sometimes the best recommendations come from real people, not Google! Ssh, don't tell Google I said that...)
🍴 Food Roundup (pictured):
Tom Bargen – for the best London Fogs (iced or hot!) and rich brownies
Nonsuch – the most delicious burgers I’ve ever had
Solera – a cozy speakeasy with creative, well-crafted cocktails
BDI (Bridge Drive-In) – creamy soft serve + great walking trails nearby
🗺 Things to Do:
The Oval Room at Fort Garry Hotel – classy brunch vibes in a historic setting
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights – beautifully designed and interactive
Royal Canadian Mint – not pictured, but super cool to see where our coins are made
✨ Romy’s Highlights:
The Old House Revival Co. – 4 stories of antique treasures
Johnston Terminal (basement + beyond) – more antiques + vintage shops to explore
Assiniboine Park – stunning flower gardens, a butterfly exhibit, and lovely cafés

Today is the best day ever? Why, do you ask? Today is all about ROMY!
Romy is brilliant, enigmatic, and basically the epitome of sunshine in human form. She has an amazing attitude, a creative eye, and makes things run so smoothly behind the scenes. Not only is she a joy to work with, but it's also an honour to call her a friend. 🧡
Happy Birthday, Romy! (Hope you're having ALL the delicious treats today!) 🎂

I've been laid off twice in a short amount of time...during a pandemic...and then again after buying a house. So it's safe to say I know what it feels like to be strapped for cash.
Despite having to adopt a frugal mindset for this period of time, one of my fundamental values is supporting the makers, creatives, and community where I live. Yes, you have to get more creative, but this list is a start.
Even if you don't have extra dollars to spend, here are some ways you can still support the local community!
