September 1st - a fresh new month, and with it comes the beginning of the month checklist to see what needs to be completed.
As some of you may be aware, our Provincial Gov't has made changes to the budget and accordingly have made changes within the PST requirements.

So, this post is to inform all my clients that effective OCTOBER 1st, 2026, there will be PST of 7% added to my invoice.
Unfortunately this is mandated from the provincial gov't and not a voluntary registration on my part.
Similar to the GST, this is now a tax that I am required to collect and remit as a bookkeeper and tax preparer.

** Note - this does not apply to my clients who reside outside of B.C. as this is a provincial tax only.
GST is federal and applies across Canada.

When you’ve got a lot of paperwork to get through, so quitting time isn’t over yet, and you want summer to last longer …. ☕️🩴

If you qualify for this one or the monthly child tax benefit credit payment, remember, your payment MAY be held back if you are not up to date with tax filing.
It’s never too late to get caught up.

Phase 2 Due Date quickly approaching!

If you, or your spouse or common-law partner, have self-employment income, you have till June 15th to file your tax return to CRA.

Do you have children that you receive the monthly benefit for?
Remember that those benefits will cease if your taxes are not up to date.
CRA uses the prior year income amounts to determine your monthly benefit payment so not having taxes filed will halt this payment.
It's never too late to file!
