Everyone's panicking that AI will take accounting jobs.
I'm an accountant, and I disagree.
Here's why 👇
✅ Accounting is judgment, not just data entry. Revenue recognition, accruals, tax treatment, and compliance need context and experience. AI can't carry that responsibility.
✅ Accuracy isn't optional. One wrong number can mean penalties, failed audits, or bad business decisions. Every AI tool says "AI can make mistakes," so someone has to be accountable. That someone is us.
✅ Yes, some work will change. Basic categorization and routine reconciliations? AI will handle a lot of it. I won't pretend otherwise.
✅ Entry-level roles feel it most. Juniors need to build skills beyond data entry, like analysis, advisory, and problem-solving.
✅ The winners will be accountants who use AI. Let AI do the repetitive work while you focus on complex issues, strategy, and client advice.
💡 AI won't replace accountants. Accountants who use AI will replace those who don't.
What's your take?
Is AI a threat or a tool in our field?
