There’s nothing better than being able to recommend another small business this week, because you’ve personally experienced their work. 🙌

After epoxy completely transformed around 300m² of our home, there was one very important finishing touch left to do…

Enter Camila the Caulker! 👏

And wow — Camila absolutely did her thing! 🤍

Her attention to detail and workmanship were amazing, and the caulking has finished everything off beautifully. It’s one of those jobs you might not think makes a huge difference… until you see it done properly.

Professional, meticulous and an absolute pleasure to have working in our home.

We couldn’t be happier with the finished result and would happily recommend Camila to anyone needing quality caulking work.

Supporting and recommending great local small businesses is something I really want to do more of on this page — because good businesses deserve to be talked about. 🩵

Spent half the morning thinking it was Monday…

Plot twist: IT’S TUESDAY. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Missed meetings ✔️
Confused by the calendar ✔️
Coffee working overtime ✔️
Professional bookkeeper status… questionable today. 😂☕️

Please tell me I’m not the only one whose entire week is now out of whack! 🙋🏼‍♀️

NEW VAN = NEW MOBILE OFFICE 🤍🚐💻

One thing I was absolutely determined to have in our new van was a dedicated workspace just for my bookkeeping.

I love being able to travel, but running a bookkeeping business means I still need a workspace that’s practical, comfortable and lets me work just as efficiently on the road as I do at home.

So we’ve added a few clever little extras to make my office on wheels work:

✨ Lagun Table – my own dedicated work area that swivels and moves easily, so I’m not taking over the lounge table every time I need to work.

✨ NomaDesk – such a simple little setup with my keyboard, mouse and laptop stand packing neatly into one compact carry case. Easy to set up, easy to pack away.

✨ Glide Monitors – probably my favourite addition! Three screens available while I’m working means I can still have Xero, reports, emails and client information open at the same time. A game changer for bookkeeping on the road.

The goal was simple: travel more without compromising my business or the service I give my clients.

Now my office really can come with me. 🤍

Same work. New views. 🌊🚐💻

Key October 2026 Deadlines

📅 21 October 2026 (Monthly BAS): Lodgment and payment for September 2026 monthly activity statements.

📅 28 October 2026 (Quarterly BAS): Lodgment and payment for Quarter 1 (July – September 2026) activity statements if self-lodging (extended to 25 November 2026 if lodging electronically via a registered BAS/tax agent).

📅 31 October 2026 (Income Tax Return): Due date for self-lodging individuals and partnerships for the 2025–26 financial year, as well as prior-year outstanding returns.

💻 WHO LOOKS AFTER YOUR BUSINESS WHEN YOU CAN’T?

When you’re a solo bookkeeper, it’s easy to think you have to be available all the time.

But what happens if life suddenly gets in the way?

You get sick.
There’s a family emergency.
You need unexpected time away.
Or you simply need a proper break.

That’s where having a trusted caretaker or backup bookkeeper becomes so important.

A good backup plan means:

✔️ Critical payroll can still be processed
✔️ Important deadlines aren’t overlooked
✔️ Clients know who to contact if necessary
✔️ Urgent matters can be handled
✔️ Your business doesn’t completely stop because you have to

And just as importantly — you can actually step away when you need to.

Running your own bookkeeping business doesn’t mean you should have to carry everything alone, 365 days a year.

For me, it’s also about protecting the business I’ve worked so hard to build and making sure my clients are looked after when life doesn’t go according to plan.

Because sometimes the best business plan isn’t about what happens when everything is running smoothly…

It’s having a plan for when it isn’t. 🤍
