As we sit here whinging about our first world problems, price of fuel, electricity bills because we’ve been running the Aircon all summer etc let’s spare a thought for the women of Vanuatu. These women are not only the caregivers to the young and the elders but they also building their own homes. They live in a patriarchal society where they’re on the front lines of social and climate impacts. They are subjected to 60% gender violence 20% more maternal deaths in 2026 and only 2% representation in government. Please help build capacity and empower these women. They don’t want saving. They just want to be given resources and education so at the least they can rebuild their homes using new materials as their current practices have been destroyed by the impacts of climate change. I had a pleasure of meeting Mary Jack, leader of Mitingar.org who opened my eyes to the atrocities of these women in Vanuatu. Please give generously to support cause and think about these women next time you’re on a cruise or you head over to Vanuatu for a holiday.
