🚨 UAE CORPORATE TAX FILING DEADLINE: 30 SEPTEMBER 2026

UAE business owners is your Corporate Tax Return ready?

With the 30 September 2026 Corporate Tax filing deadline approaching, businesses should not leave their UAE Corporate Tax compliance until the last minute.

A timely and accurate Corporate Tax Return filing helps businesses meet their FTA obligations and avoid unnecessary compliance issues or penalties.

Before filing, businesses should review:

✅ Corporate Tax registration status
✅ Accounting records and financial statements
✅ Taxable income and allowable expenses
✅ Applicable Corporate Tax adjustments
✅ Available reliefs, exemptions or elections
✅ Supporting documents and tax records
✅ Corporate Tax Return information before submission

Why prepare early?

Corporate Tax filing is not simply about submitting a return. The information reported to the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) should be supported by accurate accounting records and proper documentation.

📌 Key takeaway: Don’t wait until the deadline to discover errors in your accounts or tax calculations.

At RBO, we support UAE businesses with Corporate Tax registration, Corporate Tax return filing, accounting, bookkeeping, VAT compliance and tax compliance support.

Prepare early. File accurately. Stay compliant.

🚨 UAE VAT UPDATE: Input VAT Verification Requirements Are Changing

From 1 October 2026, UAE businesses will need to pay closer attention to the validity and integrity of supplies when claiming Input VAT.

Under FTA Decision No. 13 of 2026, new measures introduce verification procedures that can go beyond simply holding a valid tax invoice.

What does this mean for UAE businesses?

Before claiming Input VAT, businesses should consider whether they have sufficient evidence regarding:

🔹 Supplier identity – including incorporation details and authorised representatives
🔹 Business presence – registered address and actual place of operation
🔹 Supplier risk – indicators that may require enhanced due diligence
🔹 Commercial substance – whether there is a genuine business reason for the transaction
🔹 Transaction details – pricing, payment method and payment account
🔹 Goods or services – authenticity, origin and nature of the supply
🔹 Documentation – evidence that appropriate verification procedures were performed

Key thresholds to understand

For supplies below AED 10,000 excluding VAT, certain verification measures may be disregarded, subject to the conditions of the decision.

However, businesses should pay particular attention to higher value and higher risk supplier relationships, including the AED 100,000 and AED 375,000 thresholds, where additional requirements may apply.

What should businesses do now?

✅ Review your supplier onboarding process
✅ Update your vendor due diligence checklist
✅ Introduce a risk based approach to supplier verification
✅ Review payment and approval controls
✅ Document verification procedures and supporting evidence
✅ Train finance and accounts teams on the new requirements

The key takeaway: VAT compliance is becoming increasingly evidence driven.

A tax invoice remains important, but businesses should also be prepared to demonstrate that their supplier and transaction have been appropriately verified where required.

Don’t wait until 1 October 2026. Start reviewing your Input VAT and supplier verification processes now.

At RBO, we help UAE businesses strengthen their accounting, VAT compliance, bookkeeping and financial processes so they can stay prepared for regulatory changes.

UAE Pillar Two / Top-Up Tax (DMTT): New FTA Deadlines Every Multinational Group in the UAE Needs to Know

The Federal Tax Authority has issued Decision No. 12 of 2026 (16 July 2026, published 4 August 2026), setting out exact Registration and Deregistration timelines for the UAE’s Top-Up Tax (DMTT) under Cabinet Decision No. 142 of 2024. If your business is part of a multinational group, this is the week to check your dates.

Registration

→ Standard rule: within 7 months of the end of your first in-scope Fiscal Year.
→ Transitional relief: entities with a Fiscal Year ending before 30 April 2026 now have until 30 November 2026 to register regardless of the 7-month rule. This effectively extends the deadline for most calendar year groups (FY ended 31 Dec 2025).

Deregistration

→ Standard rule: within 6 months of the earlier of (a) the entity ceasing to exist, or (b) the Fiscal Year end in which it exits the MNE Group’s scope.
→ Transitional relief: entities that ceased to exist before 30 June 2026 have until 31 December 2026.
→ Deregistration is only approved once all Top Up Tax, penalties, and required returns are fully settled and filed.

In-scope / out-of-scope notifications
If your MNE Group falls out of scope, the FTA must be notified within 6 months of the tested Fiscal Year-end. That out-of-scope status holds for 5 consecutive Fiscal Years, after which a fresh notification or deregistration application is required.

Group filing
A Domestic Designated Filing Entity can register or deregister on behalf of an entire Domestic Main Group, Minority-owned Subgroup, Reverse Hybrid Entity, or Domestic JV Group one filing instead of many. Applies to Fiscal Years starting on or after 1 January 2025.

DMTT applies to large multinational groups (broadly, those with consolidated global revenue above the OECD Pillar Two threshold) most UAE SMEs and startups fall outside its scope. But if you’re a foreign investor, group entity, or growing business with an international structure, it’s worth confirming where you stand before a transitional deadline slips by.

At RBO Accounting Services F.Z.E, we help SMEs, startups, trading companies, e-commerce businesses, and foreign investors across the UAE stay ahead of FTA compliance from VAT and Corporate Tax to DMTT scope checks. Book a free consultation to find out where your business stands.

Zero-Rated vs Exempt Supplies Under UAE VAT: What’s the Difference?

One of the most common misunderstandings in UAE VAT is assuming that Zero-Rated supplies and Exempt supplies are the same.

They are not.

Although both may result in no VAT being charged to the customer, the VAT treatment and particularly the ability to recover input VAT can be very different.

1️⃣ Standard-Rated Supplies — 5%

VAT is charged at the standard rate of 5%.

Businesses can generally recover VAT incurred on related expenses, subject to the UAE VAT recovery rules and conditions.

2️⃣ Zero-Rated Supplies — 0%

VAT is charged at 0%, but the supply is still treated as a taxable supply.

This means businesses may generally recover input VAT related to making those supplies, subject to the relevant conditions.

3️⃣ Exempt Supplies

No VAT is charged.

However, input VAT related to making exempt supplies is generally not recoverable, subject to the UAE VAT rules, including any applicable apportionment requirements.

Why does the difference matter?

Incorrect VAT classification can result in:

✔️ Missed input VAT recovery
✔️ Incorrect VAT returns
✔️ Cash flow inefficiencies
✔️ Compliance issues
✔️ Potential penalties

The key takeaway:
0% VAT does not automatically mean the same thing as VAT exempt.

Understanding the difference between Standard-Rated, Zero-Rated, and Exempt Supplies is essential for accurate VAT reporting and maintaining proper tax compliance in the UAE.
